Warehouse Module

Warehouse Module

Warehouses are Stock Locations within Host Companies where stock can be stored.  You can have as many as you like and as many levels as you like.

Defining Stock locations

Warehouses and Stock Locationss can be

  • owned by you
  • 3rd Party Logistic warehouses owned by others

You can define n levels for each Warehouse - for example general packing area, Pick face, Web Orders packing Area, Row, Rack, Bin etc..

  • Denote special areas in the warehouse for fridges, freezers, returns, damaged stock, samples etc
    • Special Areas can limit the stock that can be stored - for example to stock that requires refridgeration
    • Special Areas can be default locations for some transactions - for example returns, repairs, sample receipts, inspections etc
  • Denote a pick sequence to be used by the pick slips for the order of visiting locations.
  • Denote if an area is accessible using a forklift or not.  Locations visited by forklift can be grouped together on picks to be done together.

Tracking Stock levels

Stock Takes can be done in the system as a first count followed by a second count.  There are a number of ways to reduce the time taken to keep stock levels accurate

  • Each count can be done as multiple people counting in the system at the same time
  • You can use a cycle counting strategy
    • Expensive and critical to track items are counted regularly
    • General items are counted on a different frequency (perhaps every week you count a different Rack)
    • Cheaper, less critical and easy to source items are counted infrequently or only as required.

The /wiki/spaces/SI/pages/33054928 makes it easy to find stock that is low based on sell rates and expiring items in the warehouse.

Stock can be kept up to date using Record Stock Adjustment when changes need to be made.

Moving stock around and Pick Pack Ship

You can easily move stock to refill pick faces or make room for newly arriving stock in the system. Some stock moves can be configured in the system to be Automatic (such as automatically moving full pallets that have been opened by a pick process to a bottom bay location).

  1. The picking process will
    1. direct you first to open boxes and bottom level locations
    2. Sequence the pick around the warehouse based on locations pick sequences you setup.
  2. The Pick Dashboard makes it easy to find filter and Quick Pick Sales Orders.
  3. Then Pack Sales Order simplifies the packing into cartons and onto pallets allowing adjustments to the original cartonising plan from the Cartonising process and printing of shipping documents once complete.
  4. The /wiki/spaces/SI/pages/33054956 makes it easy to find the right items when the carriers arrive and quickly mark them all as shipped.

Small orders can be grouped together into a larger bulk pick - moved to a packing location - then packed into the smaller orders.

  • For example a large number of orders each with a few items such as Web Sales Orders direct to the consumer
