GST Report Accrual Report

Overview

The GST Report lists the GST paid and collected for a nominated period. The default period is for the previous quarter. The Accrual Report is calculated based on invoice lines.

Report columns

The report lists:

  • Date
  • Direction (Collected or Paid)
  • Entity (name with search code in parentheses)
  • Description
  • Debit amount
  • Credit amount
  • An asterisk (* ) to the right of the Credit amount if the GST is related to Capital It also accrues Capital and Non-capital, Collected and Paid totals.

Data selection

  •  The report lists all journal lines allocated to either the GST Paid or GST Collected accounts (see Administration - Control - GL Control Accounts).
  • Journal lines are allocated to these accounts when a journal with a tax amount is saved.
    • ''Journal lines can also be allocated to these accounts manually.'' Note that journal lines allocated manually to these accounts will not be counted in GST figures in the GST Explorer for BAS as these figures are based on the tax amount in journal lines.
  • The GST Explorer for BAS BAS Statement tab includes a list (Journal tax vs tax collected or paid mismatch), accessed from the List Journals for ... button, which will list journals where the total journal tax amount differs from the amount debited or credited to the GST Paid or GST Collected GL accounts.
    • This helps to understand the difference between the totals on this report and the totals on the GST Explorer or BAS Statement form.
    • Note that the BAS Statement uses different criteria to determine if a purchase is capital. The direction (Collected or Paid) is determined by which account the journal line is assigned to.

Capital and Non-capital expenses

Capital GST payments are determined according to the journal type:

  • Creditor General Journal or Creditor Prompt Payment
    • Considered a capital payment if any of the other journal lines in the same journal have a debit amount and are assigned to an Assets or Equity or Capital type account.
  • Creditor Payment
    • Considered a capital payment if any of the invoices that the payment is allocated to have a debit amount and are assigned to an Assets or Equity or Capital type account.
